What is fill?

Two or three weeks after Calgel was applied on nails, the nails grow and there are gaps between nails with gel and cuticles. Process for filling these gaps were called “fill” Please see below for step by step process for the fill.

Note: Not everybody can keep gel nails for two to three weeks. How long gel nails last will vary by the nail and/or lifestyle.

Yoko’s two cents about “fill” (Yoko’s personal opinion)

If possible, I recommend “fill” because it will protect your nails. I will file your nails as thin as possible and will not be hurting your nails so you can enjoy new designs and/or colors after the fill.
You do not need to remove gel and get a new set every time you have new gel nail design. If you do, it might cause damage to your own nails.

How much and how long it takes?
Fill will take cheaper than a newset. For example, if you get a French nail design, new set is at least $60 whereas fill coats about $50. It takes about one and half hour for fill without having design. The more complicated design is, the longer it takes. In addition to these advantages, you will have 5% off every time if you make an appointment at the salon.

Right after applying a new set of Calgel

Glossy nail is specific to gel-nail. Using color gel, handwritten flowers as well as rhinestones can last for a
while.

Three weeks after the new set

You can see a gap between cuticle and nail with gel because nail gets longer. Appearance for other part
of nail remains the same.

After filing

First, nails are trimmed and removed any remaining nail designs from previous time so nail looks like.
After filling clear gel on nails
After nails are filed, clear gel is reapplied on the nails.
Nails are much smoother at this point.

Now it is time to add new gel color and design
You can choose totally different nail color and design.

In case when not being able to apply “fill”
If gel is separated from nails, I often recommend that you have a new set instead of fill. In this case, I will remove the existing gel and apply a new set.

I will try applying “fill” as clear as possible but if dark nail color was applied previously, it might be better if you choose to have a new set rather than “fill”

Here are some pictures of the customer who has been filling (All pictures are the same customer’s)

new set
This design looks very gorgeous. (Reverse French rhinestone design with pearl nail color)
take 1-1/2h, about $80

First fill (Three weeks later and finished filling gel)

Previous nail color and rhinestones are removed and nail has been filed. This design is springlike design.
(Reverse pink French design with     rhinestones and some glitter ) take 1-1/2h about $65

Second fill (Three weeks later and finished another filling)

Since previous designs and color are removed and filing completely, lighter nail color can be used. This
design is reverse French nail with multicolor hologram decoration. take 1-1/2 about $65

Third fill (Another three weeks past)

Again all of the design and color were removed and light blue angled French nail design with cute flower
sticker was used. This is perfect for early summer.
take 1-1/2h about $65

To keep doing fill every certain period, I hope you could see any kind of design and color can be possible.
Please note that this is only my opinion and advice and it might not be applied to some cases.
